That's Krafty Thursday! #6

Ahhh, nothing says Christmas like Grandma, right? Remember that great smell when you ran into your Grandma's house? She was ALWAYS cooking and ALWAYS had the BEST food!! I treasure those memories. As a child growing up, my Mom very seldom had sweets in the house, so when we went to Grandma's it was like "oh yeah!" She always had the "good stuff". Boy, did my Grandma know the way to my heart! {he-he} So when I saw this stamp at Eat Cake Graphics, it just brought back all those great memories and I had to have it!

So with that in mind, I wanted this card to look like it smelled SWEET, like it just says SUGAR!! Ok, so I started with my SU Kraft CS and stamped a few snowflakes with some Versamark ink, sprinkled on some pink irredescent embossing powder and then heat set them. I stamped my image onto some Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics. I stitched her onto the DP from My Minds Eye and used a border strip from this collection for the bottom edge. This is a computer generated sentiment that I printed and punched out with my SU Large oval punch. I finished with this saddle stitched ribbon from Stampin Up and there you have Christmas card #43. Now That's Krafty!!

Be sure to leave a comment below and let me know what you think of my SWEET card, ok? Oh, and I'd love to hear something "SPECIAL" you remember about going to your Grandma's too! Have a great day!

  1. Sweet. I miss my Grandmothers. I never knew Grandma G. well, she live in AZ we in IA. Saw her once a year. And she passed on when I was 12. Grandma E. lived to 92 and was a dear lady. Very tall for her generation. Almost 6 foot. She had 6 grandchildren and would take each of us one weekend all by ourselves :) She never drove so we would take the bus downtown and go to the beauty parlor , shopping at the 5 and dime (Kreske's) and lunch at Peterson's. She also taught me to knit and embroider.
Thanks for asking use to share, hugs...

  3. I love this card. The color combo and the coloring are wonderful.

My grandma made these special cookies with a pecan on top and some kind of chocolate/mint thing in the middle. I loved them when I was a kid. I cannot find the recipe anywhere. :(

  7. Cool snowflakes!! The cups look delicious. (Do you have to wear grandma shoes when you are a grandma? I hope not!)

My grandma was a cook by profession so all her food was yummy, but she always made Divinity candy and fudge at Christmas time that was delicious.
