Save the Date

Ok, now be honest, do you hens know what a "Save the Date" is?  Well, for those of us a little on up in years, (uh-hum, your's truly included) we don't!  LOL!!  So, if you're one of us who don't know, it's more or less an announcement sent out approximately 6 months in advance of the wedding, letting the guests know the wedding date so they can plan ahead.   Lil' Chick found a ton of clever ideas out there regarding Save the Dates, but I wanted to do something a little different.  Here's what I came up with...

...this is the front of the card which is all done using Stampin Up supplies.  My good friend JoAnn let me borrow some of her supplies.  Jessica's colors were taupe, ivory and peach.  The wedding date was set for November 3rd so these colors would be perfect for that time of year!

This is the inside of the card.  The hearts were cut with my Silhouette Studio and glued on.  Of course the corners were rounded with my Corner Chomper (boy did that guy get a workout these past few months!) and the center piece is a MAGNET that pops out and goes on your fridge so you'll SAVE THE DATE!

The engagement photo shoot!

Did ya like the video?  Seriously, I could watch it over and over.  {sigh}  Jessica had her hair and makeup done professionally that morning and they drove a few hours North to the photo shoot.  Well, if you're familiar with Florida weather, you know that Summer afternoon rains are VERY common.  So sure enough, in the middle of the shoot, it started to rain, and then it poured.  But the great thing was, the videographer made the rain WORK!  Wasn't that great?  It was like the rain was meant for the video.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Imprint Cinemas.  Now here are some of my FAVORITE photos from their engagement photo shoot.  Enjoy!!

Lil' Chick's Married!!

Hi hens!!  Did ya miss me??
Wowzers!  What a bizzzzzeeee 5 months we've had!!  I haven't worked this hard in I don't know how long.  But it was SO worth it, cuz' it was a GORGEOUS wedding!  Lil' Chick was the prettiest bride EVER!  Uh-huh, I cried.  But you hens knew that already, huh?  But so did my DH!!  LOL!  So much for the big ol' rough and tough guy.  Yup, when he gave his little girl away, he lost it  ..... and then so did everyone else!  Tee-hee!  It was a wonderful day, with beautiful weather too!  It couldn't have been better.   And to top it all off, I have the GREATEST new Son In Law now.  The DH and I couldn't be happier!  So, I thought I would give you hens a little recap of my time off during the next month and hopefully you might find some ideas in the midst of all the pictures and posts that might inspire you too!

So, let's start at the beginning....   It was January 2010, and Jessica had stopped in at Crispers Cafe to eat dinner. While standing in line, a voice behind her (Doug) asked, "What are you going to have?" and she replied, "A summer salad", and he said, "A summer salad in January?" They laughed, a conversation began, and they had dinner together.  That was the beginning of this beautiful love story......  The video below was taken during their engagement photo shoot.  I absolutely LOVE this video and I shed a little tear each time I watch it.  What can I say, it's the Momma in me.  Enjoy!!

Father's Day card #2

Mornin' hens!  As promised, here is my second Father's Day card.  This one is for my Dad.  {grin}  He'll LOVE it!  I used another Paper Smooches set this time.  This one is called "Zoo Crew".  I started by stamping my images onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and then colored them with my Copics.  Next, I cut them out and mounted them to this scene I created using both  October Afternoon's "Sidewalk" and My Minds Eye "Away We Go" collections.  I stamped the jungle leaf image onto the OA DP and created a hanging branch effect in the corner (ummm, since giraffes are always eating leaves, right?) and then using the same paper, I made a few hills for a nice ground effect as well.  I added the little picket fence behind the images using my MS border punch and then matted the whole panel with some SU Basic Black CS.  I drew some faux stitching lines around the outer edges and stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner.  To finish, I sponged some distress ink along the bottom edge, tied on this cute striped grosgrain ribbon, and added some Glossy Accents to Dad's eye!!  Tee-hee!
Have a wonderful Father's Day to all the Dad's out there!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Supplies:
Stamps - Paper Smooches; Copics; DP - October Afternoon "Sidewalk" and My Minds Eye "Away We Go"; CS - SU Basic Black & River Rock, Neenah Classic Crest White; Glossy Accents; Martha Stewart Border Punch; Ribbon - Stamp Simply Ribbon

Father's Day card #1

Hiya hens!  Sorry for being MIA lately but I'm in the process of making wedding invitations and I'm afraid this is going to take up the majority of my Summer.  I'll post when I can but if not, you'll know I'm working my little chicken fingers to the bone with these invitations!  Eeeeeek!  I did manage to make a couple of Father's Day cards for both my DH and my Dad.  This one is for my DH....  I'm LOVIN it!!  He'll get a kick out of it!  (Literally!) Tee-hee!

The image is from this month's new release called Green Acres from Paper Smooches.  I couldn't resist and subscribed to Lori's monthly stamp club.  Her images are so ADORABLE!  I stamped the little goat onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and then colored him with my Copics.  I matted him with both SU Early Expresso and Cajun Craze.  I ran the DP through my printer for the sentiment and then matted it the same way.  To finish, I tied some Baker's Twine around the plaid panel and secured it with a button!  Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Supplies:
Stamp - Paper Smooches; Copics; DP - My Minds Eye "Darling Dear"; CS - SU Early Expresso & Cajun Craze, Neenah Classic Crest; Aqua Bakers Twine; Button

BLD Tuesday

Mornin' hens!  It's time for another ByLoriDesigns Tuesday!  Ahhhhh, I just LOVEEEE Tuesday's now, don't you?  I never tire of these images from Lori and Hannah.  They're SO SUPER CUTE!  Today's sweet little girl is from the Bug & Roo collection and she's called Ella Two.  I made this little card for my niece who I think is a twin to Ella Two!!  Tee-hee!  I showed this card to my DH and he said, "It's PERFECT for her!"  Yay!

Ok, so I printed the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics.  I rounded the bottom edge of the image panel by inserting the CS into the oval punch from the bottom and only cutting the one side.  The DP is from My Minds Eye Dilly Dally collection.  Wanna see some more eye candy with these adorable images?  I thought so.....  me too!!  Let's hop on over to the BLD blog and check out what the rest of the BLD DT whipped up!!  Have a TEE-RIFIC Tuesday!!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Orange you sweet!

Mornin' hens!  Isn't this card great?  Man I LOVE those oranges. This is the "Citrus Set" from Purple Onion Designs and man is it fun!  It comes with a ton of sentiments and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this CRAZY font!

This card is part of this week's Catered Crop Recipe Swap challenge.  This week's Featured Ingredient is Rick Rack! Woo-hoo!

I thought this would make a great Thank You card and you know, you can never have too many of those on hand, right?  I started by stamping a polka dot background with some Versamark ink on this Kraft CS.  Then I added this DP from My Minds Eye "Darling Dear" collection to the bottom half.
Next, I rounded the bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper (don't know what I'd do without that thing!) and then added this fun velvet rick rack trim along the top edge of the DP.  I stamped both the slices onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored them with my Copics.  That's another thing that's cool about this set, you can make the slices whatever fruit you like.  I decided on oranges (I'm a Florida girl, what can I say!) and then added some Crystal Effects for that "just sliced" juicy shine!!  I popped up the slices with a few dimensionals and added the sentiment on top, accented with a few brads.  Pretty simple but OH SO SWEET!! Be sure to check out the rest of the Catered Crop DT rick rack projects this Sunday, May 20th for the quick fire round.  {{{hen hugs}}}

Happy Birthday Mom!

Yeah, I know!  She gets back to back cards AND gifts!!  Lucky lady huh?  Now, you hens would probably not believe this, but little Marcie here from ByLoriDesigns looks just like me when I was little.  Curly reddish hair and a TOMBOY to say the least.  Oh yeah, dirt and me went hand in hand!  So I thought my Mom would get a kick out of this card for her birthday.

I wanted to do something a little different today, so I decided to make a tall card.  This card's measurements are 4' wide by 9.25' tall.  It fits perfectly into a Number 10 business envelope if that gives you an idea of the size.  It's pretty neat though and it gives you lots of design room too!  I printed the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest white CS and then colored it with my Copics.  I stitched the image to some SU Basic Black CS and then added it to this cute DP from October Afternoon's Farmhouse collection.  I matted each DP panel with the SU Basic Black CS and stitched with black thread as well.  To finish, I printed the sentiment from the Little Talk Sentiments set (also from ByLoriDesigns) and punched it out with my SU oval punch and added this cute gingham ribbon on top.   I hope she likes it!

Now be sure to pop over to the BLD website and take a gander at the rest of the BLD Design Team's eye candy for today!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Supplies:
Digital Image - ByLoriDesigns; DP - October Afternoon - Farmhouse; CS - SU Very Vanilla & Basic Black; Punches - SU Oval and Scalloped Oval, SU Border Punch; Ribbon - Michael's; Copics; Bards - Recollections

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Mornin' hens!  This is my Mom's Mother's Day card.  Think she'll like it?  I sure hope so. Flowers aren't something I do that often but I must say, I REALLY like how this turned out.  This image is part of a set called "Bouquet and Containers" from the Stephanie Ackerman line over at Purple Onion Designs.  I LOVE how you can use the images interchangeably.  I decided to use the mason jar with the bouquet.  I stitched the image panel to this great DP from Simple Stories and added a little distress ink around the edges.  To finish, I punched a little tag and wrote Mom on it, then threaded it on some Baker's Twine and tied it in a cute little bow for a great 3 D effect.  I hope all the Momma hens out there have a WONDERFUL Mother's Day!

BLD Tuesday

Acccck!  Ok, needless to say, I LOVE this card!! OMG, I just keep staring at it.  *sigh*  I made this card for my Aunt and Uncle's wedding anniversary.  They LOVED it!  Yay!!

I started by using "Grandparents" from the Sugar Sticks collection at ByLoriDesigns.  I separated the two images and then created a new file where I overlapped the woman a little over the man so they were closer together and holding hands.  I then printed the image and colored it with my Copics.  I stitched it to some SU Basic Black and then added it to this cute DP from My Minds Eye.   To finish, I tied on this cute plaid ribbon and added some Crystal Effects to their glasses!  Love it!!

Now be sure to hop on over to the BLD website and check out the rest of the BLD Design Team to see what SUPER CUTE ideas they've got in store for you this week!!  {{{hen hugs}}}

"B" is for Baby Bear!

Mornin' hens!  It's time for another Catered Crop challenge!  Woo-hoo!  This week's featured ingredient is the letter "B"!  Well, I got this!!  Not only did I use this fabulous little Baby Bear from Purple Onion Designs, but I cheated and used alphabet DP too!  Bwah-ha-ha-ha!!  I know, I know.... that doesn't count right?  Tee-hee! Can't blame a girl for trying, huh?

I started my card by stamping "Olive" from Purple Onion Designs onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics.  I cut her out with my Nestabilities and then sponged a little distress ink around the edges leaving the die in place.  I matted her with some SU Real Red CS cut with my Petite Scalloped Nestabilities and attached her to this cute DP from October Afternoon.  I finished by tying a bow with this cute ribbon I picked up at Michael's.  I'm sending this to Lil' Chick's friend Cheryl who just had the CUTEST little baby girl.  Welcome Peyton!!

Now don't forget to check out the rest of the Top Chef's over at the Catered Crop on Sunday, May 6th for the Quick Fire round.  Hmmmm, wonder what they used for the letter "B".  Only one way to find out!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Mornin' hens!  For today's BLD Tuesday post, I used Lollipop Lil' Chef Girl.  Isn't she the CUTEST?  I know I say that about all Lori's images but I can't help it.
After I printed this image out, I decided it would be perfect for a Mother's Day card!!  I colored her with my Copics and stitched her to some SU Real Red CS.  I used this SUPER CUTE DP from October Afternoon and finished with this striped ribbon and a button on top.

Now be sure to hop on over to the ByLoriDesigns website and see the rest of the BLD Design Team's FAB creations today.

I hope you hens have a great day!  {{{hen hugs}}}

BLD Tuesday

Mornin' hens!  It's time for another By Lori Designs Tuesday post.  Whoopie!!  Now, believe it or not, this is an exact replica of my little GRANDDOG Lilly!!  Tee-hee!  I've included a photo of her so you can see the resemblence!

She's a TWIN right?  OMG, I do LOVE that little girl.  She's SO STINKIN sweet!  The DH and I love taking care of her and we spoil her rotten every time she comes to visit.  That's what grandparents are supposed to do right? Bwah-ha-ha-ha! Anyhoo, it was her birthday a few weeks ago so I HAD to make her a card!!  Pfffft!  Hellooo??  She's my baby!!  Gramma HAS to make her widdle girl a card...  *snort*

Ok, so I started by printing the image "Dog" from the Lollipop collection at ByLoriDesigns, on both the  Kraft colored CS and again on white CS.  I shaded the white image with a few highlights and then paper pieced it to the Kraft CS.  I cut the image panel out with my circle Nestabilities and then (with the die in place) added some distress ink around the edges.  I printed the sentiment directly on the DP and then stitched around all the edges.  To finish, I tied on some CUTE striped twill ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel, and then added a few brads at the top!  She LOVED it, she told me so..... REALLY!!  Tee-hee! Now, there's still a few days left in this month's That's Kraft Thursday challenge, so if you haven't entered my challenge yet, well HOP TO IT hens!! BLD Tuesday

Morning hens! It's time for another By Lori Designs Tuesday post! I'm having such a wonderful time playing with these SUPER CUTE images from BLD! Seriously, I don't think I'll ever tire of them. This little CUTIE is called "Fancy Bunny". How appropriate since she's all guzzied up with a pearl necklace and a flower too! *snort* So here's how this little cutie came together... I printed the image onto some Neenah Classic Crest white card stock and then colored her with my Copics. Then, as I started to punch a border along the bottom edge of the top panel I stopped after the first punch because I sort of liked the way it looked. Don't ya love it when an accident looks like it was planned?? Tee-hee! Ok, so then I stitched around all the edges and added a few brads to the top panel. Next, I cut out the image and mounted her using a few dimensionals. To finish, I added this GORGEOUS lace from the Ribbon Carousel and tied some linen thread on top! I hope you hens have a TEE-RIFIC Tuesday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon. {{{hen hugs}}}

I still have a few Easter cards I made to share with you, as I just couldn't seem to stop playin' with all these CUTE BLD images. I think Lori has created a BLD MANIAC!! LOL!!

Ok, so first I cut out the Card Ornate Frame from the Silhouette Studio on line store, by ungrouping the image and cutting it in SU Soft Suede, pink and white CS. Then I layered all the pieces and printed the Lollipop Easter Basket from By Lori Designs on some Neenah Classic Crest white CS and colored it with my Copics. I sponged a little chalk ink around the edges and cut it out with my Nestabilities and then layered it on top. I finished with this pink ruffled ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow. SUH-WEET!!

This here is a little birthday card I made for my BIL who I know is just gonna love it! Simple design, but it just seems to work with this image doesn't it? I LOVE it! This is "Farmer Clem" from High Hopes Stamps. I colored him with my Copics, and mounted him to this DP from GCD Studios. I matted the DP with some SU Kraft and adhered it to the SU Early Expresso card base. To finish, I tied on some brown gingham ribbon and added a button on top!

BLD Tuesday

Mornin' hens! As you can see, I've been playin' with my Silhouette Cameo {snort} .... and I must say I LOVE this card. I used the Happy Easter Card Kit from the Silhouette Studio on line store and then backed the cut out front window with some pink card stock. (Sigh.. I'm SO lovin' this machine!)

Ok, so then it was time to gussie up the front with this fun image called "Bunny Girl Three" from the new Bug & Roo release over at By Lori Designs. I added some grass to the bottom using two different colors of green CS that I punched with my MS border punch and nestled some pastel eggs inside. I stitched around the top edge and sides, rounded the corners, and added a fun gingham bow to finish. SUPER simple card and I really LOVE the results!! Wanna see some more eye candy? Hiya hens!! I don't think I mentioned to you all what the DH and Lil' Chick got me for my birthday!! Well, they bought me a Silhouette Cameo.... Eeeeek! I was SO STINKIN' excited to get this gem, you have no idea. If you've not seen this little puppy in action, take a look over at You Tube for a few tutorials. It's absolutely amazing. I've seen the Cricket in action many times but my only reluctance to buying one, was having to buy those expensive cartridges. Ouch!! So once I saw that the Silhouette Cameo doesn't have any cartridges, and you can print any font you have on your computer, plus thousands of images in their on line store for .99 cents or less, I WAS SOLD!! I could buy just the images I wanted and not be limited to cartridges!! HOT DOG!

Now, I'm not proficient with this thing by no means, but I was pretty darn excited to make this cute little Easter bunny card as one of my first attempts with it. I took this chocolate bunny image, flipped him upright, and welded the ears together to make a card. How COOL is this??? Well, maybe not that great, but pretty good for a newbie huh? And way simple to do! I finished by cutting an "internal offset" of the image in white card stock, for the inside. And then using removable adhesive, I stuck the inside cut out on a full size 8 1/2 x 11 piece of card stock and ran it through my printer and printed an Easter greeting on it. It worked perfectly!! Oh, and what little bunny would be complete without a pom-pom for a tail?? Tee-hee! Ok, well I hope you hens have a wonderful weekend! {{{hen hugs}}}

That's Krafty Thursday #60

WOWZERS!!! Can you hens believe this is the 60th TKT challenge? My how time flies! It seems like just yesterday I announced that Thursdays in the hen house were going to be called That's Krafty Thursdays. I'm so glad you hens enjoy playing along in my TKT challenges too, cuz I {heart} looking at your KRAFTY creations. So, since this is a milestone TKT challenge, I want a record bunch of entries, k? Whoopee! Lot's of eye candy for the Chicken! And to start you off, here's a KRAFTY creation from lil' ol' me. This is Magnum (the cutest cat ever!) from Ladybug Crafts Ink. Did you all know that LCI went digi? Ummmm, how cool is that? Images delivered quickly, no shipping AND you can make them any size you choose! Love that! For my card, I actually combined two images to create this design, one is Catflap Magnum and the other is Birthday Cake Robyn. I really like how this turned out too! Oooooh, I just love it when that happens. Tee-hee! Ok so I started with coloring Magnum and then I cut him out. Next, I colored the balloons from the Robyn image and cut them out as well. I adhered strings behind the balloons and then threaded them through Magnum's paw! I adhered the image inside the square frame to resemble Magnum popping through! I printed the sentiment directly on the DP and adhered the frame and image above the sentiment. I finished by tying a cute bubbly bow with this cute ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel! Woo-hoo! Ok, now it's your turn! It's SUPER EASY to play along in my TKT challenges. Just create any project using Kraft colored card stock and link it up below by Wednesday, April 25th at 7:00pm EST. I'll announce the TOP CHICK PICKS on Thursday April 26th and in addition, the winners will receive Clara The Krafty Chick badge for their blog, so everyone can see they're a Krafty Chick! Awwwwwk! Ok, ya ready? Let's GO!!!
Have a terrific Thursday! {{{hen hugs}}}

Save the Date!

Mornin' hens!! Wow, it's been awhile since you've heard that, huh? I'm so sorry. I guess you could say, I FLEW THE COOP! *snort* The DH and I took a little mini vacation and had a wonderful time. We rode the Harley all around Central Florida near the Ocala area, it's so pretty there with all the hills! Oh and you'll never believe this, but on one of our little adventures, we found the My Favorite Things stamp boutique! Not only that, but I met Kim van der Sanden and her whole family too! They were so nice to us. And before you ask, YUP, I came home with a whole bunch of new stamps! Good thing they don't take up much room because those saddlebags aren't that big, ya know! Hmmmmph! It was great to get away, but since our return home, I've been PREOCCUPIED with these little jewels....

Now, they may not seem like that big of a deal, but after you've made 50 of these puppies you'll be seein' flowers in your sleep!! Seriously!! Lil' Chick's wedding colors are mocha, peach and cream. She asked that I incorporate Kraft CS into her "Save the Dates" and invitations too. Ahhhhhh! You can bet that makes Momma Chick super happy! Tee-hee! Me loveeeee Kraft!! Hey, do you think Lil' Chick was butterin' me up so I'd do these? Uh-huh, I think so too! (I told you she was smart!) Ok, so I saw this design over at Silke's blog HERE and I just switched up the orientation and colors a bit to fit with the wedding colors. I printed the words Save the Date on the card stock first, and then using my Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamped the image over top. Then using the die that matches this SU stamp set, I cut each image out. The background is done with an SU embossing folder. Inside each card is a business card magnet made with Kraft card stock as well. They turned out really cute but I must say, I'm so glad they're finished and I can get back to my normal crafting!! Sorry, but mass production just isn't much fun, even if it is for Lil' Chick!!

Wedding news update: Lil' Chick found a dress!! OMG!! It's the most stunning dress EVER!! And the best part is, she LOVED it so much, she didn't want to take it off in the boutique!! *snort* We had so much fun that day! I bet she tried on 25 dresses and I think the girl helping her was having just as much fun as she was, because Lil' Chick was so open minded about the whole process! She didn't have any preconceived ideas and was willing to try anything! It was a BLAST!

Well, that's all from the hen house today, but be sure to check back in tomorrow because I have some SUPER excited news to share with you! Until then.... {{{hen hugs}}}
