Thinking of you...

Mornin' hens.... Ya'll ready for the weekend? Pffft! Do bears poop in the woods? Hellooooooo? You bet I am! Seems like the weekend has taken FOREVER to get here. Now for those hens who are nestin' on the East coast of the States, ya'll take cover now, and go roost somewhere else for the weekend. This hen's been through enough hurricanes to last me a lifetime and they're nothing to take lightly, lemme tell ya. Better safe - than sorry, my Momma always told me.

Ok, now onto this FABBY card I made! Tee-hee! Nothin' like tootin' my own horn huh? I made this card for a co-worker of mine who's havin' a birthday comin' up shortly. I think she's gonna LOVE this one. I used "Gossip Nikki", one of the GREAT images from the Nikki & Friends range over at LadyBug Crafts Ink. The sentiment is from the "It's only Words 4" set. Ya know, I think I've mentioned this before, but it's worth repeating. These LCI acrylic stamps leave the cleanest, crispest image I've ever seen for acrylic. I know sometimes when using acrylic, they just don't stamp off as nice as rubber does. Well, these do!! Absolutely a PERFECT image every time! I colored the image with my Copics and cut it out with my oval Nestabilities. Leaving the die in place, I've added a little chalk ink around the edges for this subtle sponged background look around the image. If you've never seen this technique, I have a video tutorial on it HERE. I've also, used my brand spankin' new Pretty Posies Die-namics from My Favorite Things to make this SUPER CUTE flower! Ain't it purty? I just LOVE this card. Again, this is part of that new Fancy Pants paper pack that I've fallen in LOVE with. GOR-JUSS!

This card is also doing double duty for the Catered Crop's FTR 19. Here's this week's recipe:

  • Colors – jewel tones of pink, violet and blue, gold/yellow and brown
  • Stamps and Stickers – gears or clock works, wizards and magic, butterflies, text/script, sentiment
  • Color Mediums – stamping/distress ink, markers (ProMarker, Copics), and acrylic paint
  • Embellishments – ribbon, brads, tags, polymer clay, glitter/Stickles
  • Techniques – mix-media, collage, use and/or layer digital stamps, edge the card with paint
Now it's super simple to play along in the Catered Crop's FTR (Follow the Recipe) challenge. Just use any one of the above ingredients in your project and link it up over at the Catered Crop. I've highlighted those ingredients that I've used in my card above.
Okee dokee, that's it from the hen house today. I hope you hens all have a wonderful weekend and STAY SAFE! {{{hen hugs}}}

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

OMG, this card just cracks me up! This is a digital image called "sheepish love" from Zlatoena Designs and I've been dying to use it. I printed it out onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored it with my Copics. I stitched around the edges and added some mini black brads. The DP is a new collection called "it's the little things" from Fancy Pants. I thought it was so pretty on line when I ordered last week. Well, lemme tell ya, it's even prettier in person!! Love it when that happens! Ok, so I matted the DP with some SU Basic Black and edged a few with my Martha Stewart border punch. I added the sentiment and finished with some sheer polka dot ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow.

Oh and here's the best part.....

What'd I tell ya..... it's a hoot ain't it? OMG, I just love it! *snort*

Oh, and don't forget to link your projects up before 7:00pm EST tonight for my That's Krafty Thursday #53 challenge. YOU just might be crowned this week's KRAFTY CHICK!! Woo-hoo!!

You're only young once!

Mornin' hens! Miss me??? Sorry 'bout that, but I was a bit overwhelmed last week and needed to take a little rest in the nest! Tee-hee! I'm rested up now and rarin' to go.

I see some UH-MAZING entries have been added to the TKT #53 challenge! Woo-hoo! Wanna play along? Don't be shy, we LOVE company in the hen house!! And we hens welcome any ol' chick with open wings! LOL!

Well, I did some major chores around the house this past weekend but I was still able to squeeze in a few cards. Here's a little card I whipped up to get you hens in a KRAFTY mood.... This little image is from an Inkadinkadoo set called "Humorous Birthday". I just love the crazy little images in this set. Ya'll know me, if it's sassy, I've GOT to have it! Ok, so I stamped little granny onto some Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics. I matted her with alternating SU Kraft and Chocolate Chip CS, and then stitched around the edges. The DP is from October Afternoon, and to finish, I added a button, a few brads and some SU twill ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow. Okee dokee, are those KRAFTY ideas flowin' yet? Yay! Now don't forget, you've got until Wednesday night at 7:00pm EST to enter my That's Krafty Thursday #53 contest. The only requirement is to use Kraft cardstock! Yep, that's it! Link your project on my That's Krafty Thursday #53 post below and YOU just might be the next KRAFTY CHICK! I'll announce the winners right here on my blog bright n' early Thursday mornin! GOOD CLUCK!

Thimon Thez....

OMG, I am havin' such a ball with these crazy birthday cards lately. This is another card I made for my sister. Man, she hit the JACKPOT for homemade cards this year! I wish you could have seen her reading this out loud in front of everyone. She got so tongue tied and then got to giggling.... Seriously, it was hilarious watching her. What a hoot! That just made my day so needless to say, I was pleased as punch!

Ok, so this is a little digital image from Squigglefly and what's really cool about their images is, they come with a mirror image too! That's a first for me as I've never seen that done before, but boy it sure does come in handy. Take for instance this little crazy bird. I wanted them to sorta look like they were talkin' to each other. So I wanted him to face one direction and say something and then I wanted him to face the other direction and talk again, and these two mirror images worked great for this. I pretty much just made text boxes in MSWord and then pasted the images beside them for the design. Pretty straight forward but it took some doin' since text boxes can be kinda quirky if you know what I mean. I also printed the images onto some old October Afternoon scrap paper that I had in my stash and then cut them out. So the little bird's body is paper pieced but the rest is colored with my Copics. I added a strip of polka dotted DP along the bottom edge and rounded the bottom corners too. As a finishing touch, I threaded a button and glued it to the right side for a little added dimension. And that's it....

oh, except here's the BEST PART!!! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! Is that great or what?? Man I do love this card. I'm so glad she got a kick out of it too! Ok, now it's your turn...... What? You don't know what today is? Well, my little feathered friends, it's THAT'S KRAFTY THURSDAY 53. Yay!! So come on and get that Kraft cardstock out and let's get KRAFTY!! It's easy to play along in my little challenge, just make a project and use some Kraft colored cardstock on it. Hey, it don't get no easier than that! *snort* Then just link your project below by August 24th at 7:00 pm EST and YOU just might become a member of the most elite cardmaking group evah, THE KRAFTY CHICK club! Pfffft! Well, I don't know about that but it's a real BIG DEAL to us hens, that's fer sure!! Tee-hee! Ok, so let's GET KRAFTY!!

Oh, and if that twern't enough, this card is also doing double duty in the latest and greatest FTR18 challenge over at the Catered Crop.

Here's your FTR18 recipe, and it's almost an anything goes challenge, so have fun! (I've colored the ingredients I used in red)

Just for fun....

This little card was actually part of a joke but I thought I'd share it with the hens today anyway. You remember me tellin' you that my little chick's birthday party was last weekend right? (Oh by the way, it was PERFECT and she LOVED her cards! Yay!)

Ok, well I had told her that she wasn't allowed to look at my blog last week since her birthday cards were posted. So later in the week, while I was talking to her on the phone, I told her that I had 21 clucks on one of her cards! (I get real excited when I get lots of clucks! *snort*) Ok, so the DH overheard me tellin' her this and then he got on the phone and said, "I hope you like snakes!" and my little chick says, "Snakes?? I hate snakes!!" and the DH says, "Well that's what's on the birthday card your Momma made for you. {so he starts describing the card that doesn't exist!} ....It's a snake with a frog ridin' on it's back and it reads, "sssssssslithering by with a birthday hi!"

Well, the two of them got to laughin' so hard about this fictitious card, and they continued with this all week long. Every time she would call, the DH would HISS into the phone, and she'd start laughing all over again. Good grief!!

Ok, so then at the last minute on Saturday, I decided to actually make the card he dreamed up! Seriously, I made this card in like 30 minutes! Finding two stamps that were actually sized right was the hardest part! This snake is from High Hopes Stamps and the little frog is from a Whipper Snapper set I have called "Hooked on Fishing". As soon as my little chick opened this card, I thought she was gonna fall off the chair laughing. Tee-hee! She got the biggest kick out of it and yes, the inside does read, "ssssssslithering by with a birthday hi". LOL!!

Have a great Wednesday and don't forget, tomorrow is the start of a new That's Krafty Thursday challenge, so be sure to get that Kraft cardstock ready!! Woo-hoo! {{{hen hugs}}}

BIG butts are IN now!

Well now, that's music to MY ears!! Since I have enough to spare!! Bwah-ha-ha-ha!!

This is a little birthday card I made for a good friend of mine. I know she's gonna LOVE it, cuz she has the same crazy sense of humor I have! (she better, huh?) LOL!! This is an older Inky Antics stamp that I pulled out of my storage bins and as soon as I saw the look on her face, I knew this was the perfect sentiment for her.

Ok, so I stamped her onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics. Then I matted her with some SU Real Red CS and stitched around the edges. This DP is from Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird collection and I finished by tying some Baker's Twine around the panels and added a button on top!

Ok, now here's the best part..... the punch line! {*snort*}

Isn't that the BEST?? OMG, and it's SO TRUE! Seriously, what's up with GRAVITY lately?? I don't know about you, but it just jumped right into overdrive as soon as I hit 40!! It's like my skin turned into one BIG MAGNET!! Pfffft! Crazy ain't it? ROFL!!

Okee dokee, that's it from the hen house today. I hope you hens all have a MAH-VELOUS Monday.

Lil' Chick's Birthday Card #2

Isn't this image GREAT? Oh man, I LOVE those big 'ol glasses of hers! And I can think of a dozen things she could be sayin'. LOL!

This is the second card I made for my lil' chick's birthday. OMG, this is SO her! She's just like her momma and has a killer SWEET TOOTH! Seriously, I'd rather eat a donut than a steak any day! LOL! And my lil' chick is just like me, so I know she'll get a kick out of it!

This image is by JustInkLined, and I printed her out onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored her with my Copics. This DP is from a fairly OLD MME's Quite Contrary collection, and I matted it all with some SU Cherry Cobbler. Yay, something other than SU Early Expresso, huh? LOL! I used my Martha Stewart border punch along the bottom and tied on some SU twill ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow with a button on top. I printed the sentiment and then matted it with the SU Cherry Cobbler too!

Oh and here's the inside..... *snort* Perfect right?

Just a quick reminder, my That's Krafty Thursday challenge closes tonight at 7:00pm EST. Be sure to get those cards linked up and check back tomorrow mornin' for the crowning of our newest KRAFTY CHICKS!!

Is it Mooooooon-day already??

Seriously!! Where'd the weekend go?? Ok, all in favor of a 5 day weekend and a 2 day work week say Mooooo! Tee-hee! I think all the cows in the world just raised their heads!!

Was that you Bessie? *snort*

So did you hens all have a good weekend? I spent Saturday makin' my lil' chick's birthday cards. I made her two of them and this is one. She better not be peekin' neither!! Hmmmph! Her birthday is comin' up next week and we're giving her a party this Saturday. I've been itching to use this new digi I got from Squigglefly. Ain't it a hoot? OMG, those eyes just crack me up! I printed the image twice and cut the head off the second one (Awwwwwk, dem's fighten words to us chickens!) LOL!

Ok, so then I colored both with my Copics and matted the image with some SU Early Expresso (is there any other CS?) and then pulled out this really OLD SU DP and matted it with some blush colored CS from my stash. I stitched around the edges of all pieces and then add this Martha Stewart taffeta ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow. And of course for the FINISHING TOUCH, I added some dimensional pearls in Expresso to make that AWESOME lookin' cow patty!! I was so proud of my little creation and the DH says, "it needs some STINK comin' off of it or at least a fly!" Hmmmmmm??? Ok, so I got out my super fine Prismacolor markers and drew a few dots and a little fly. Tee-hee! The DH gave his approval with a, "VERY GOOD!" Yay!! Oh, and here's the inside. Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!! OMG, I'm gonna pee my pants!! Have a great Moooooooon-day hens! {{{hen hugs}}}
