LOVE bug

Mornin' hens!

I spent the weekend in my craft room and boy did I have FUN!  I forget how much I enjoy crafting until I've been away from my coop for awhile.  If only I could have a JOB crafting.  Now wouldn't that be the ticket?  Uh - yeah!

Ok, so here's one of the cards I made.  This is Jaxon's 5 month birthday card.  Remember me telling you that I celebrate his birthday each month?  Well, this is the card for February.  Ain't it cute?  Lil' Chick calls him "bug" so I thought this image was perfect. 

I saw this framed scalloped circle idea on Pinterest and thought it was so clever.  I've always used the inverted scalloped dies as is (you know - with the points sticking outward).  It never occurred to me to use the negative space!  Duh!  I love the way it frames the inner circle with scallops.  Too cute!  I used a piece of DP from MME Love Me collection (which sadly is no longer available) on top and used the printed word LOVE to my advantage.  I just stamped the word "bug" and cut it out with my tag die and the sentiment was complete!  To finish, I added some homemade enamel dots and a bow made with some dotted organza ribbon.  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a MARVELOUS Monday!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Celebrate!

Mornin' hens!  Sorry for the lack of posts but I've been SOOO lazy since the holidays.  Seems all I wanna do is NOTHING!  {{{snort}}}   Oh and I've been smoochin' all over my new grand baby Jaxon too!!  Have I mentioned lately "I'M A GRANDMA?"  Goodness he's a sweet baby!  I can't get enough sugar from that little guy!  Tee-hee!  I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but I had this brilliant idea to send him a birthday card and a little present each month!  I thought it was a great idea until someone reminded me, "You know you're gonna have to do that with ALL your grandchildren now, right?" Ummmm, didn't think of that....  LOL!  Oh that's ok, I only have one daughter, so unless she intends to reinact the movie "Cheaper by the Dozen", I think I'm ok!  Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

So here's Jaxon's January birthday card.  I thought I would try to do a theme card for each month so I went with the New Year baby for January.  I wanted to make a shaker card too, so the confetti would dance around behind the image.  I think it turned out great!

Here's a close up of the shaker circle.  Oh and here's a little tip: Instead of using multiple pieces of foam tape to make your shaker box, cut the complete shaker box shape from fun foam instead.  I used my Spellbinder Nestabilities circle dies and cut the star designer paper, the red cardstock frame, the fun foam circle frame, and the transparency, so they were sure to all be the same size.  Easy-peasy!!  Okee dokee, that's it for me today.  I hope you hens have a TEE-RIFFIC Tuesday!!  {{{hen hugs}}}

Happy Birthday Dad!

Mornin' hens!  Today is my Dad's birthday!  He's 79 today.  He loves getting my cards, so I really enjoy making them for him.  I used one of my FAV's from Stampendous.  I just love Fluffles the cat.  I found this sketch on Pinterest.  OMG, I don't think I can ever visit that website and not spend half of a day there!  It's seriously addicting!!  Pin, pin, pinning…  Anyhoo, I found this card sketch there and fell in love with it.  Not too busy and perfect for this image.  After I was done watercoloring the image, I wanted to make the balloon stand out, so I added some sparkle using my Wink of Stella glitter pen and then applied some Glossy Accents on top.  The photo doesn't do it justice but it looks great IRL.
