It's an Easter Egg Shower!!!

LOL! Today's Catch the Bug Challenge theme is April Showers!! Well, I decided to think "outside the box" on this one and thought I'd use something besides the normal umbrella/rain images. I thought these little Easter Bunnies with their eggs looked like an Easter Egg shower to me, and fits into an April theme as well since Easter is tomorrow! Ok, so maybe I'm crazy but that was my logic for this card.... ROFL!! Hey, but it's SUPER CUTE huh? I LOVE how this card turned out. These are little block images from Bugaboo Stamps and I began by printing each of them on the same setting, so they would all be the exact same size. I colored them with my Copics to match this cute DP from MME Stella & Rose collection and then adhered them to some SU Chocolate Chip. I stitched around the edges and decided the center needed a little something. So I made this little circle phrase in Word Art and punched it out with my circle punch and added a vintage brad in the center. To finish, I added this BEE-YOO-TI-FUL satin ribbon tied in a pretty bubbly bow! Be sure to visit the Catch the Bug Challenge blog and check out all the inspiration from the rest of the DT! If you play along over at CTB, you could win some Bugaboo Stamps images of your choice! Woo-hoo!

Now ain't this a "quinky dink"? Bugaboo Stamps is sponsoring the Catered Crop FTR10 challenge!! Yippee Skippee!! That makes it a double decker challenge for this hen all rolled up into one post! With that said, here's this week's Follow The Recipe #10:

* Pattern Paper – stripes, miniprints
* Colors – pastels
* Stamps – go digital, bunnies, butterflies, and flowers
* Color Mediums – Copic markers, paint, white pens
* Embellishments – burlap, pinwheels, twine, buttons, eyelets, brads
* Tools – sewing machine, Cropadile, die cuts
* Techniques – sewing, distressing
* Theme – Spring

To play along in the FTR10 challenge, all ya have to do is use just one (or more if ya like!) of the above ingredients in your project and link it up over at the Catered Crop. I've highlighted the ingredients used on my card just to give you an idea. It's super easy and just about any card will work, so why not enter BOTH challenges? Hey, you can double your chances to come away with some AWESOME Bugaboo Stamps images! Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Hey, and here's another idea.... add some Kraft cardstock to your project and enter it into my That's Krafty Thursday #50 below! YOU could be the next Krafty Chick!! Awwwwwwwk!

Now where'd I hide that darn egg???

Bwah-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, that's SO ME!! I have to count them before I hide them or I'll forget one for sure! I LOVE hidin' eggs too! None of that easy "out in the open" stuff if Aunt Jeanie's hiding eggs. Ok I admit, I do give my little niece a "hotter or colder" hint, but that's it. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net Yeah, I'm a pushover for that cute face....

Today is the beginning of another Catch the Bug challenge. This week's challenge is 4+ layers! Can't get no easier than that for this hen! Ya'll know I LOVEEE layers. So whatcha think of Gus in his Easter Bunny suit? ROFL!! OMG, what a hoot! This is Gus - Hiding Eggs from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed Gus out onto some Neenah Classic Crest CS and colored him with my Primsacolor pencils and Copics. You can play along in this week's challenge too. Just head over to the Catch the Bug blog and get all the details....

I'm also following the recipe in this week's Catered Crop FTR #9 challenge.

Here's the recipe:
  • Pattern Paper – stripes, plaids and polka dots
  • Colors – kraft, red, green, blue, and yellow
  • Stamps – alphabets and stars
  • Color Mediums – stamping ink
  • Embellishments – bling, buttons, ribbon
  • Tools – sewing machine, distressing tools
  • Techniques – sewing, distressing, try threading your buttons with ribbons, ruffled paper/ribbon
  • Theme – Boys! and Alligators?!
  • Shapes – stars, circles, scallops, and swirls
It's super easy to play along in this challenge too. Just use any of the ingredients listed above. I've highlighted those that I've used in my Gus card. For all the challenge details, just click on the Catered Crop FTR button above.

You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see...

... we sure would be delighted with your company!! In the Catch the Bug challenge of course!! ROFL!!

Yep, it's that time again, time for another Catch the Bug challenge. This week's theme is Monochromatic PLUS 3 buttons! Ooooh how fun!

I must admit, I've had this idea in my mind for several months now and finally decided to try it out. I think it turned out SUPER CUTE and it was fairly simple to put together.
I printed "Bentley-On the Inside" from Bugaboo Stamps and colored him with my Copics. I made the black frame with my square Nesties, using two sizes and cutting the second smaller one on the inside of the first. For the bars, I just cut a few thin strips of the black cardstock and glued them to the back of the frame and adhered it to the image with some foam tape.

For the background, I used an OLD brick texture plate on the grey cardstock and embossed a subtle brick pattern. I lightly rubbed some distress ink over the embossing so it would be a little more noticeable. I stitched the brick background piece to some white cardstock and zig zag stitched the sentiment below. To finish, I glued on the flat buttons above the image and adhered the panel to the black cardstock base. Here's the inside:

*snort* I thought of that one myself! LOL! OMG, now I can hardly wait for someone to have a baby so I have someone to give this to! Wanna see some more FABBY monochromatic ideas? Head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and feast your eyes on tons of inspiration from the rest of the DT!! And when you're done there, we wanna see YOUR eye candy too! There's some FREE images in it for you!! Woo-hoo!! You can get all the challenge details on the Catch the Bug blog. Thanks for stopping by today, hope you hens all have a SUPER Saturday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon! {{{hen hugs}}}

Meet Miss B!

OMG, ain't she a hoot? Man alive, I LOVE this lady! {Note to Jodie - we need a Miss B collection! Purty pleeeease?} I think she looks like Gus' sister, whatcha think? Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha! What is it about "OLD" people that just cracks me up? Hmmmm, I guess if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em, huh? Hey - I'm there!! LOL!

This week's Catch the Bug challenge is "SCALLOPS", oooooh LOVE those!
Now let's see.....how'd this card get to be so doggone cute? Well, first off I printed "Miss B" from Bugaboo Stamps onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I created the slightly curved scalloped bottom with my Marvy Mega scalloped oval punch, by only placing half of the CS in the punch through the bottom! Ain't I clever? Tee-hee! I did the same thing to the SU Real Red CS and then stitched the two together. I adhered the image panel to this cute DP from MME's Stella & Rose Gertie collection. Yup, I'm lovin' these papers!! Continuing with the scalloped theme, I also added a small white scalloped border to the horizontal panel in the background and finished with a scalloped paper flower and some Baker's Twine! OMG, I LOVE this card!!! Now the question is, who to give it to? Ya know, this presents itself as a common problem for me, cuz not everyone thinks of being "OLD" quite like I do!! Hey, it beats the alternative, right? Hellooo? Might as well suck it up and ENJOY, cuz you only have ONE 2nd childhood!! Woo-hoo!

Be sure to hop on over to the Catch the Bug Challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's take on this "scallop" challenge. Wanna play along? All the deets are on the Catch the Bug blog. You know, you might even win FREE images just for playin'!! And what stamper could live without Miss B??? Uh, only birdbrains!! Oh wait a minute, that's me!! Scratch that!!! Pffft! Oh, you hens know what I mean, just get those cards entered so you don't miss out!! Have a SUPER Saturday and I'll see ya back in the hen house real soon! {{{hen hugs}}}

Husbands are like lawnmowers....

... hard to get started, emit foul smells, and don't work half the time!

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, now tell me that ain't the truth??? I showed this card to my DH and said, "whatcha think?" He paused for a moment as he read it, and then just stopped COLD! He handed it back to me and slowly looked away... I said, "what's wrong, don'tcha like it?" He didn't answer!! *snort!*
That was SO worth it! ROFLMBO!

Hey, it's Saturday and that means it's time for another Catch the Bug challenge. Whoot-whoot! This week's challenge is two fold.... first it's a sketch challenge, and here's the sketch.

Super cute, huh? Ok, now the second part of the challenge is the color GREEN! I decided to use Stella Lawnmower from the Stella Summer Blocks collection and colored her with my Copics. The DP is from an OLD Cosmo Cricket collection called Hello Sunshine, which works with my personal challenge to use OLD stuff! I tied on some saddle stitched grosgrain ribbon and finished with a couple of lime green buttons for a little extra POP of GREEN! Ready to try your hand at it? You could even win some FREE Bugaboo Stamps images!! FREE is good, right? Oh yeah, me LOVEEE FREEE!! Need some more ideas to get you inspired? Head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and check out the rest of the Bugaboo Stamps DT's take on this sketch. They're sure to make you GREEN with envy. LOL!! You know you're OLD when...

..gettin' a little action means your prunes are workin'!! Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! OMG, what a hoot! Ummm, I better hush, this is gonna be me in a few weeks!! Pffft! Whatever! I still love it! This is "Stella - getting a little action" from Bugaboo Stamps. She's a mess ain't she? Oh, I LOVE Stella. Of course Gus is right up there too, but Stella is my LOVE! LOL!! This week's Catch the Bug Challenge is to create a card with a different fold. Hmmmm, I had to think about that one. Funny how these little challenges make you think outside the box, huh? Ok, so I decided to make a match book style card today that requires two folds, one on top and another on the bottom. First, I stamped Stella onto some Canson Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I cut her out with my square Nesties and sponged on some distress ink with the die in place. I matted her with some SU Basic Black CS and then stitched around the edges.

I've included two additional photos here so you can see how the card opens. The card base is 4.25" x 12" and scored at 5.5" and again at 11" creating an A2 size card with a 1" lip. I then cut a large scalloped circle from some SU Basic Black CS and cut it in half. I then attached that half to the 1" lip creating the top flap of the card. I stitched this polka dot DP to the SU Basic Black CS and adhered it to the front of the card and also added the coordinating herringbone DP to the top and bottom of the scalloped circle. I added a small magnet under the top flap to help keep the card closed.

This is how the card looks when it's fully opened. Pretty cool huh? A little extra effort but I really like the look.

Ok, that's it from the hen house today. Wanna see some more ideas on different folds for cards? Head on over to the Catch the Bug Challenge blog and see the rest of the DT's SUPER CLEVER cards!! Come on and play along with us at Catch the Bug! You could win some FREE digis from Bugaboo Stamps just for playing. Woo-hoo! FREE Stellas??? Who could ask for anything more?? LOL!! Have a SUPER Saturday! {{{hen hugs}}}

One TWEET ATC.. well maybe?

Hey hens!! Happy Saturday to ya!! Ready for this week's Catch the Bug challenge?? Hmmm? It's just an "itsy-bitsy-wittle" challenge..... (tee-hee) it's an ATC!! Oh boy!! That should be a cinch huh? Hmmmph! Well, that's what I thought too! Evidently, my brain only works on FULL scale because this presented a rather LARGE challenge for me. Good grief!! I'm sure you're thinking, "oh seriously, how hard could a 2.5 x 3.5 card be?" Me too!! But creating the layout for something this size was more than my wee chicken brain could handle!! And then I look at all the other chick's ATC's and WOWZER!! No trouble at all! Pfffft!! Let's just not talk about it, k?

Ok, so for my ATC, this is what I came up with. Whatcha think? Eh, so-so, right? I dunno, so you hens have to help me on this and tell me where I went wrong. So if I ever decide to make another, maybe I can improve on my design, cuz this just ain't gettin' it for me! LOL!!

So here's what I did:
First, I printed the image quite smaller than usual... Isn't that the BEST thing about digital images? You can ADJUST THE SIZE!! How cool is that? Then I colored the image with my Copics. Since this was an Artist Trading Card, I would assume the point is to trade these with other artists they meet, is that right? Ok, if so, then I thought it should represent ME, or The Spotted Chick. Soooooo, I chose some red polka dot DP and a chick image, this is "Spring Bird on a limb" from Bugaboo Stamps. Ain't she a doll?? Ok, then I paper pieced her dress and her hair bow and started the design of the card. Whooooooaaaaaa, there's NO ROOM!! Holy cow, I cut the card base and then the mat and DP and what's left?? Phoooooeeeee, so I decided to cut the image out. Now I'll let you hens on a little secret of mine, I am NO GOOD at this!! So after she's cut out, I lay her onto the red polka dot paper. Uh, HELLLOOOOOOO!!!! Where'd she go??? Yep, she faded right in. So then I decided to put a mat behind using the Kraft CS again to tie in with the card base but I did add some texture to it with my SU embossing folder. Ok, still too plain for me so I added the ribbon and the little tag and I still was just so-so with it. After 2 HOURS on a project I thought would take about 30 minutes to complete, I gave up!! I guess ATC's just aren't my specialty. *sniff-sniff*

Oh well, that's not to say they aren't for my other DT members though. Wow, they made some AWESOME designs so be sure to head on over to the Catch the Bug challenge blog and check 'em out. Now it's YOUR turn to show me how this is REALLY done. Make an ATC using any Bugaboo image and link it up to the Catch the Bug challenge blog. Not only will you be teaching me a thing or two about creating ATC's, but you could even win some FREE images just for playing. Sound like a plan? Ok, I'll be lookin' for your creation over at the Catch the Bug challenge blog and don't forget to include lot's of instructions for this OLD BIRD!! I need all the help I can get!! LOL!! {{{hen hugs}}}

I printed Ruby onto some Manga Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I matted her with some SU Sahara Sand and then SU Chocolate Chip and stitched around the edges. This was a great combination for me. It's always a good idea to have THANK YOU cards on hand, ain't that right?

So for my card I decided to use Summer Dress from the Spring Bird collection over at Bugaboo Stamps. I'm lovin' those stick legs!! Mine are only a wee bit bigger... Pfffft!!! More like 4,000 times as BIG! Bwah-ha-ha-ha!! Ok, so I printed her out on some Canson Fanboy paper and colored her with my Copics. I paper pieced her bow and her puffy sleeves but colored everything else. I stitched her onto some SU Real Red CS and then adhered the image to the DP from My Minds Eye Quire Contrary collection. I added some red ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow and there ya have an easy peasy Thank You card!! Eh, it's not that bad.... just use neutrals (white, ivory, kraft/brown, or black) + 1 color. See easy peasy right? Today I used "Itchy Dog" from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed him out onto some Fanboy CS and colored him with my Copics. I cut him out with my circle Nesties and sponged some ink around the edges. This DP is from the Max and Whiskers collection from Basic Grey and I matted it with some Bazzil rust and SU Very Vanilla CS and stitched around the edges. To finish, I added this dotted ribbon, and for something a little different, I threaded it through the button and tied a simple knot. You likee?

It's off to School we go!!

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to school we go!!! Tee-hee!! Eh, work-school, same difference!! LOL!! This week's Catch the Bug challenge theme is Back to School, with a Primary color challenge as well. I decided to use "Caution - Stella" from Bugaboo Stamps, since she reminds me of a school crossing guard. Now I don't know about the crossing guards in your town, but they take their job BIG TIME serious here! You better not blow through one of their zones or you'll get the finger! Not "THE FINGER" finger, but the finger shake! Now I'll admit, I'm a slowpoke driver and I NEVER speed, so if they ever shake their finger at me, it'll upset me for the rest of the day! I hate getting yelled at and that's what I think the "shaking finger" is like. What a wienie.... Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

Ok, so I printed Stella onto some Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I sponged some ink around the edges and stitched her to some SU Basic Black CS. This DP is from DCWV Hittin the Books collection and I just love that blackboard paper, don't you? I added one of the plaid DP's on the bottom half of the card and then stitched the DP to some orange Bazzill CS. I tied this pretty orange saddle stitched ribbon into a cute bubbly bow and matted the panel onto the SU Basic Black cardbase. Yep, it's Summertime alright!!

For us Floridians, that's a no brainer!! Oh man, is it ever HOT!! But for today, it's perfect cuz' it plays right into this week's Catch the Bug Challenge - SUMMERTIME!! So for my card today, I decided to go with a sport that's pretty popular here in the Sunshine State - TUBIN'!! Oh yeah, it don't get no funner than tubin'!! Woo-hoo!! Skippin' across the water and holdin' on for dear life! And if ya got a maniac drivin' the boat (I ain't mentioning no names, uh-hmm!), he zig zags back and forth so he can fling you over the boat wakes!! Um, yep - I've had my share of tubin' experiences!! What??? You never seen a chicken on a tube b'fore??? Bwah-ha-ha-ha!!

Ok-ok, so for my card I chose this super cute image called "A Kids View - Tubin" from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed the image onto some Fanboy CS and colored him with my Copics. I matted him with some blue CS and stitched around the edges. I applied some Glossy Accents to the water for a little splash and then tied this red & white thread to the tube for the perfect boat rope! I picked up this DP on one of my MANY trips to Michaels and cut the sun out free hand. Oh and my daughter thought of the sentiment inside - it reads, "When the waves get rough - keep hangin' on!" Isn't that perfect for a "pick me up" card? I loved it! Pretty simple card and would definitely put a smile on someone's face who was havin' a bad day. Okee dokee, that's it for me today. Be sure to leave a cluck below and let me know what ya think and if this Florida heat ain't hot enough for ya, then hop on over to the rest of the Bugaboo DT and see what they've got cookin'. I bet their creations are SMOH-KIN hot! See ya back in the coop on Monday!! {{{hen hugs}}}

Christmas in July!!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way!!...... Woo-hoo!! Oooooh, I LOVEEEE Christmas, don't you? I was so excited over this week's Catch the Bug Challenge "Christmas in July" not to mention, I needed to get started on my Christmas cards anyway.

This little image is "Candy Cane" in the Christmas Mice section over at Bugaboo Stamps. Isn't she the cutest? I printed her out on some Fanboy CS and colored her with my Copics. I cut her out with my circle Nesties and sponged some chalk ink around the edges with the die in place. I matted the image with some SU Real Red CS and I added some glaze to her candy cane but I don't think it's visible in the photo. It's SO cute in real life! This DP is from the Be Merry collection from My Minds Eye. I love the soft colors in this collection and the red accents look great with it too! I punched a couple of snowflakes from the SU Very Vanilla and SU Real Red CS and covered them with Diamond Dust for a really cool icy look. Then I finished with this pretty red grosgrain ribbon tied in a cute bubbly bow! It's beginnin' to look a lot like Christmas!! LOL! It'll be here before ya know it, right? Ok, that's it from the hen house today. Be sure to leave me a cluck below and let me know what ya think of my 1st Christmas card and check out the rest of the Bugaboo Design Team for some more great Christmas ideas. {{{hen hugs}}}

WILD about you!

Hey there! Are ya wore out from all that hoppin? Not to worry, you can rest up and sit a spell right here in the chicken coop with da rest of da hens! LOL! If you've just happened upon my blog today, be sure to start back at JODIE's blog so you don't miss any lovin'!

This week's Catch the Bug challenge theme is "love is in the air". How suh-weet!! Now this theme is pretty wide open... it could be a wedding, anniversary or even a friendship card. Ok, so I decided on an anniversary card for my DH. Our annivesary is next month, so this was a perfect challenge for me.

I began with one of the giraffe blocks named "two love" from Bugaboo Stamps. I printed them on some Choice Buttercream CS and colored them with my Copics. This DP is from DCWV Safari collection and I thought it went PERFECT with this image. I matted the image with some SU Chocolate Chip CS and stitched around the edges. I punched the bottom edge using my SU scalloped border punch and added the computer generated sentiment to the side. I finished with this cute brown saddle stitched ribbon and added a button in the center. Okee dokee, that's it from the hen house today. I hope you hens all have a fabby weekend. It's time to fly the coop now and visit SHEILA. I'm sure she has some LOVE to share with ya too....... {{{hen hugs}}}

Are you a SOCCER NUT??

Well if you are, you already know that the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa kicked off yesterday! My good friend Meahni who lives in South Africa, sent me a few pictures from Johannesburg. Wow, I don't know if I've ever seen SO many people!! She was so excited that her team played well yesterday and tied with Mexico. So, do you know who's playing today??? Yep, the good 'ol USA!! Woo-hoo!!

So with all this going on, how perfect is this week's Catch the Bug challenge theme of,
"Show your team colors!"
To participate, just make a card using either the team colors of the country that you want to win the World Cup, the colors of your national flag, or the colors of your favorite sports team!! Then link your card up over at Catch the Bug and you might just be the lucky winner of some FREE Bugaboo Stamps images. Woo-hoo!!

Now for my challenge card, I'm supporting both my country in the World Cup, and I used the colors of our flag. I would so LOVE for the USA to do well in the World Cup! Red, White and Blue are the colors of our flag, so I tied those colors into my card using some DP from K & Co's Sleep Tree collection, and used one of yesterday's Freebie Friday images too. Isn't this little soccer nut some kinda cute? I printed the image on some Kraft CS, then I cut him out with my Exacto knife and ran it through my Cuttlebug using the "mesh" embossing folder. Sometimes your feel like a nut, sometimes you don't! LOL!! He looks just like a nut, don't he??? Bwah-ha-ha-ha!! I'm thrilled with how this card turned out and I LOVE being able to show my support of our country's team today. Go USA!! Be sure to leave a cluck below and let me know what you think and don't forget to pop over to Catch the Bug and get ready to feast your eyes on lots more FABBY ideas to get your SPORTS MOJO up and running!! Time for a Catch the Bug Challenge!

Woo hoo, it's the weekend!! Now that's what I'm talkin' bout!! Man, I didn't think it was ever gonna get here! So whatchu hens got planned for today? How bout a lil' blog surfin??? You hens up for it??? Oooooh, yer in for a treat, cuz the Bugaboo Stamps Design Team has been hard at work to bring you some ideas for this week's Catch the Bug Challenge - "Male Call with a Sketch" to boot!!

Ya know with Father's Day right around the corner, this is a perfect opportunity to make a card AND play along in the Catch the Bug Challenge!! Now you hens wouldn't dare BUY a card for that special man in your life, right??? Ok-ok, that's what I thought! Just checkin'... Awwwwwk!!

So for my card today, I chose Gus.... ain't he great??? Oh man, I LOVE Gus but then I say that about all the images over at Bugaboo Stamps. Seriously, I have no idea how Jodie keeps coming up with them but she does. She's AMAZING! I printed Gus onto some Choice Buttercream CS and colored him with my Copics. I cut him out with my Oval Nesties and I sponged some chalk ink around the edges. I did a little video tutorial on this technique (HERE) if you'd like to see how this is done. This DP is from Cosmo Cricket's Mr. Campy collection and I matted it with some PTI Dark Chocolate CS. I punched the edges with my Fiskars Apron Lace border punch, added a few brads and tied this twill into a simple knot. Wouldn't what my DH to complain about a bow on a guy card!! Pffft!!! To finish, I printed the sentiment, punched it out with my circle punch and added some Glossy Accents to Gus' glasses and his bottle of beer. Ha-ha, LOVE that!! So you may have guessed by now, this is my Dad's Father's Day card. I just know he's gonna have a fit over it! Now, if I can only hold out until Father's Day to give it to him. Uggggh!! Okee dokee that's it for me today, be sure to check out the rest of the Bugaboo Design Team for their take on this Male Call/Sketch Challenge. I can't wait to see what you come up with too!
