Happy Father's Day!

Hey hens.... I was gonna post this card tomorrow morning but I thought, hey - why not go ahead and post it today, since today IS Father's Day!! This is "The Big Guy's Garden" by Mo Manning from Stamping Bella. Isn't he GREAT?

I made this card for my DH for his "Rooster Day" card. As soon as I saw this image, I knew immediately THIS WAS THE IMAGE for his card. Why? Ok, let me tell you this little story.... About two months ago, the rooster and I were perusing the aisles of WalMart and he said, "hey, let's go to the garden department!". Huh? Garden department? (Uh, FYI - "WE DON'T DO DIRT") Ok, so we go outside and he finds this tomato plant. ??? I'm thinking, wuddup wid'da plant??? So he says, he's gonna grow his own tomatoes for us. ?? Ya think? Now, my DH is an excellent cook and does about 99.9% of ALL the cookin' in this house, cuz' da hen, well she ain't no good at it! *sigh* (I can't boil water without instructions, for that matter!) Ok, so that was two months ago.... and each day he goes out to check on his little may-der plant and na-dah! Zippo!! No may-ders to be seen!! It's so sad watching him wait. Smiley Honestly, he's done everything but sing to it, and that might kill it so it's best he not do that! LOL!! Oh well, it's really pretty, about 3ft tall now! I'm thinking it might make a great tree for Christmas! ROFL!! Ok, so now you see why I just HAD to have this stamp for his card. He got the biggest kick out of it when he opened it too! Yay!! The hen did good!

Ok, so I colored my may-der man with my Copics and stitched it to some SU Chocolate Chip that I punched with my Martha Stewart border punch along the side. This DP is from My Minds Eye Places You'll Go collection and I added a few brads for interest. I printed the sentiment and stitched it to the bottom of the DP to finish. Okee dokee, that's it for me today. Be sure to leave a cluck below and let me know what ya think, k? I'll see ya back in the coop on Tuesday morning and don't forget to submit your cards for my That's Krafty Thursday challenge. Just link it up on my TKT post from June 17th. {{{hen hugs}}}

  2. Sounds like this Mo image was meant for you! Love your card! But I'll tell ya, I only got one tomato each from 13 plants last year so I just might be in the same garden club as your Rooster!

    And, I might have to case your stitching..I've been giving it a try and don't get lucky with straight lines..your scattered technique might be my answer. He he.

  3. The card is really cute! Tell your husband to start putting 1 gallon of MiracleGro on it once per week. When the plant gets to be about 3 ft. tall, pinch off the new growth shoots so it can put its energy into the growth of tomatoes and no more greenery. HTH!

  6. LOVE the card. Mo has the greatest images. I think he needs to be patient with his plant. Fertilizer might help. But do not over do it and get all green and no fruit. If it has blooms they will set tomatoes eventually. You are in FL so there is a longer growing season than the north. Hugs....

  10. Great job on the coloring - very realistic looking. What a great idea with the zig zag in sections! Brian is growing tomatoes too in the upside down things. We have lots of cherry tomatoes.

  12. I love your card! I used the same image for Father's Day, he reminds me of my grandpa, the tomato plant, the overalls, the hat...

    I hope you have home grown tomatoes soon! We're had tomatoes for a couple of months now here in Arizona, but soon they'll be dried tomatoes! It's getting hot~
