Love you Emily!! Always and Forever....

Today's post is a sad one, as my little Yorkie Emily has gone to be with the Lord. She passed away Monday night around 8pm. These last two days have been VERY difficult for me but I am SO thankful that God blessed me with my little baby for 14 wonderful years and even allowed me to be holding her as she took her last breath. I am so thankful that she passed away at home, in my arms.

This is my favorite photo of her. I took it right after I had given her a bath. She hated her baths but would prance around afterwards like she knew she was pretty! LOL!! She was SO much fun and SO loving. They say you don't own a Yorkie, a Yorkie owns YOU! How true that is... She had me wrapped around her little paw, that's for sure. I know my little one is in a better place now and that comforts me a great deal. I thought I share this little story with you, that my friend Cathy sent me yesterday...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that
pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our
special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food,
water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we
remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are
happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very
special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent. Her eager body
quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green
grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy
kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

That just warmed my heart. I'm so thankful to have such good friends and a wonderful family to help me get through this. I'm sorry to have started your day on such a sad note, but I wanted to honor my little girl with a post all her own! Love you Emily!! ALWAYS and FOREVER... Mommy xxxxxxxx

  10. Oh Jeanie - I'm sitting at my desk at work with tears running down my face! So sorry to hear she has passed away but she obviously gave you a lot of pleasure!

We have two Yellow Labs, Lulu (1 year old) and Poppy (3 years old). I've never owned dogs before and I can't bear the thought I've only got about more 10 years with them. But I know it will be a great 10 years!

  44. So sorry to hear of the loss of little Emily. I'm sure you feel the way I do, in that our pets are not pets, they are our children. I have the same heartbreak in my heart as you, as I just had to put down my 17 year old feline baby Jasmine. The hard part was that her mind was just fine, but her kidneys were not. The even harder part was that I had no control over making her better, as hard as I tried. Just know that you were the best Mommy in the world to that beautiful little Yorkie.

  55. I just stumbled upon your blog. Your work is so inspiring!
I am very sorry for your loss. Having had furry kids for the last 26 years i know the terrible pain and grief you are feeling. The Rainbow Bridge is a very heartwarming poem. My vet would mail it to us whenever one of our pets would go to the other side to wait for us. That is how we actually ended up with Sammy our cat we have aquired. He is very much like our dogs were. It is funny to see a cat...acting and having mannerisms of our 2 german shepards. I am sure of one thing though and that is that Sasha and Tosh had a hand in sending him to us as he was left abandoned by his previous people. We were our dogs master but i do believe that the cat thinks we are his staff. :))
Again i am so sorry for your loss.
It is so nice that we can have our memories until the time we can go be together again.
Thank you for inspiring me with your beautiful works of art. They have put a smile on my heart!

  56. This was a very lovely post and a beautiful testament to your little Emily. I know what you mean about the baths, my Bosley hates them too, but boy oh boy, is he funny when he gets out!! You two will meet again. If you go to my blog you will see another beautiful poem called ' My Forever Pet' I used on a card back in September when my niece's puppy passed away. I think it made her feel a bit better. Hugs, Caroline
